UMAP members and their universities are working towards standard arrangements for recognition of study undertaken by UMAP students. They have agreed to trial a pilot UMAP Credit Transfer Scheme (UCTS).University participation in the trial is voluntary.

The objective of the UCTS is to increase student mobility by ensuring that credit is received by students for study undertaken when on exchange with other universities.

To participate in the UCTS, the UMAP student and the home and host university need to complete a credit transfer agreement in advance of exchange. Details are contained in the UCTS Users Guide which is available on the UMAP web site.

With the principles of UMAP Student Exchange, students from UMAP participating universities undertake a period of formal study, a minimum of one semester and a maximum of two semesters while on exchange.

This study facilitates for all undergraduate and  post graduate students .

Hosting universities are expected to waive tuition fees for UMAP exchange students, and credits for study undertaken while on exchange is to be accepted by the home university.

UMAP member countries/territories and their universities are working towards standard arrangement for recognition of study undertaken by UMAP students. They have agreed to trial a pilot UMAP Credit Transfer Scheme (UCTS). University participation in the trial is voluntary.

The objective of UCTS is to increase student mobility by overcoming impediments to credit transfer,  ensuring that credit is received by students for quality and achievement of the study undertaken when on exchange with other universities.

UCTS consists of 3 components:-

UMAP Study Plan - host and home universities agree on subjects and credits

UCTS Credit Points Scale - to be used for conversion of number of credits from host to home university

UCTS Grading Scale  - to be used as reference for conversion of grades

UCTS Credit Points Scale & UCTS Grading Scale

 UCTS Credit Points Scale

For a typical student enrolled in the course UCTS measures both;
contact hours/class private study time
In order to accommodate differences in:-system of 2 semesters or 3 terms  number of years for whole curriculum
number of whole curriculum credits
Based on:-  60 credits for full academic year 30 credits for one semester 20 credits for one term
Thus UCTS conversion scale is:-
(example; university A in Japan)
units required for graduation, 124 cr.
4 years

31 cr.  =    60 UCTS cr.
1 cr.   = 1.94 UCTS cr.

(university B in Australia)
units required for graduation, 360 points
3 years

= 120 pts. =   60 UCTS cr.
1 pt.    =   0.5 UCTS cr.

Uni.A  1.94  cr. ~  Uni.B 0.5 pt.
Uni.A  1  cr. ~  Uni.B 4 pt.
