During 2002-2005 UMAP organization provided scholarships for student mobility.
Consistent with the UMAP Constitution, the objectives of the UMAP Scholarship Program were to:
Provide opportunities for university students in UMAP member countries/territories to enhance their understanding of the economic, social and cultural systems of other UMAP member countries/territories;
encourage UMAP member countries/territories to become actively involved in the UMAP Program;
Promote the transfer of credit between UMAP members;
strengthen university-to-university links between UMAP members; and
Promote the UMAP Program regionally.
Students from UMAP full and associate members can participated in the UMAP Scholarship Program. Both full and associate members received UMAP scholarship students.
University students from the following UMAP member countries were be eligible for scholarships under the UMAP Scholarship Program in 2002: Cambodia, Fiji, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines

In 2006 The Board of UMAP supported the initiation for a scholarship program set-up with the support from of each Member Country/Territory, in-order-to enhance student mobility through short-term student exchange and credit transfer between countries.
